Ecommerce Website Case Study - Bodicraft Supplies Ltd.

Bodicraft Supplies Ltd. is based in Watford, and was first established in 1992. The business specialises in the supply of paint and associated products to the refinishing industry, from automotive, marine, film, sign, model making, and aviation through to commercial and industrial businesses.
The team of Bill, Dan, and Tom have been in place for over 15 years and their in-depth knowledge, extensive experience, and enviable reputation is well-known in the local area.
The business had grown organically over the years, through diversification of range and appealing to a broader market. Through competitive pricing, service, and product availability, Bodicraft has developed great relationships with local clients.
They operate through a retail shop, with all orders processed either in person or over the phone. Over the counter sales are supplemented by an efficient local delivery service.
The website and ecommerce
Bodicraft had a website built several years before, and essentially this was there to prove the business existed.
However, it was never updated, and soon over the years it became very dated and did not reflect at all the Bodicraft brand and what the business stood for. It did not add any real value and almost was a hindrance rather than a help.
It would be fair to say that, as Dan put it, “we did not realise how potentially powerful it was to have a well-designed website until we worked with the it’seeze Watford team”.
As Dan acknowledged, the business was doing well so why spend time and money on developing a new website; and this had been the attitude for several years.
Planning for the future
There came a time about a year ago when the team assessed the business; where they were and where they needed to be in the future. Comparisons were made with the competition both locally and nationally.
As a result, a plan evolved based on all the business strengths of service, price, and availability - and the realisation that they needed to embrace the opportunities of the internet and online trading, which in today’s world is becoming a must-have for retailers.
Dan was aware of it’seeze Web Design Watford, and made contact with local consultant Stephen Sibbit to arrange a meeting. At it’seeze Web Design Watford, we encourage face to face meetings, so we can get to know the people in the business and its operations, and understand their aspirations.
A plan was put in place, and the team opted for our affordable Commerce package, which would enable them to easily sell online. Dan realised from the off that there was work to do, yet it would be worth it.
As Dan acknowledged, “the briefing process of the website itself was straightforward, with online access which was very user-friendly. As we had decided to write our own copy, Steve and the team at it’seeze were always on hand to answer questions, provide guidance and advice, and ensure we worked to the agreed timelines.”
“As we were setting up an ecommerce store, there were clear instructions on the process of product population and general shop configuration supplemented by online guides and videos.”
The website design was based on the Bodicraft brand colours, which were a pre-requisite, with simple navigation and a great choice of photography.
"We are very happy with the website design and over the last few months it has become a hit with customers.”
Once the site went live, training on the intuitive it’seeze website editor was provided face to face at the client’s premises.
We pride ourselves on our aftersales service, and through Stephen Sibbit and the rest of the it’seeze Watford team, and our online support centre and videos, assistance is always available. Indeed, from the moment the website was launched, Dan and the team were already using the website editor to add videos and more – it really is that easy!
Bodicraft Supplies now has a dynamic, professionally designed website that genuinely reflects their brand and is simple to use and update.
Over the past 6 months, the site has made an impact on the business and as Dan says, “the site has proved to be vital in helping our business grow and we are very pleased with how much work it has brought in for us.
The it’seeze Watford team are a pleasure to work with and I’d happily recommend them to other business owners looking for a high-quality web presence.”
